Wood Star for July: Door Wreath

My handsome husband cut and put this together for me....thanks to this idea I saw.  It was super easy and inexpensive to make and is just what I wanted to make a statement on our house for the month of July.
We are so blessed to live in America!

And yes, I made the banner as well.

Chevron July 4th Banner: Stars and Stripes

Here is a sneak peak at my newest banner coming to my etsy shop!  It's a smaller version of my regular banners because this one is meant to be hung above your front door.  My front door is getting ready to display one!

Transition Door Wreath: for your front door

What?  A Transition Door Wreath?  What is that??
For me I decided it would be a wreath or Letter in this case, that I could hang on my front door while transitioning onto the next Holiday or Season.  Take this year for example......Easter came and went in March and I was not going to keep my Easter Wreath on the door any longer.  It was driving me crazy. And here in Utah you can have spring and winter weather all in the same day during the spring months.
So I made a Transition Wreath.  Something that does not have any Holiday or Season theme but is still cute and functional.
I bought a Giant Letter from Hobby Lobby, painted it and then made the Chevron Tie out of some fabric I had on hand.  Ah, I am feeling much better already!
I do not know about you but I think I am more excited to transition into spring and summer weather now!

Lalaloopsy Cake

My daughter turned 6 this past week!  I can not believe where the time is going!!
She requested a Lemon Cake this year as well as a Lalaloopsy Cake so this is what I made for her:
2 Yellow straws and a paper banner with Lalaloopsy's on them.
Fast and Simple and so cute too......she was very pleased.
It was a Lemon Cake with a Strawberry filling in the middle.
The leftover Easter Sixlets were the perfect colors to finish off the cuteness for the top.

Monster Cake

My son and my husband celebrated birthdays a while back and we had a BIG monster party for both of them.  This is the cake I made for the party:

Thanks to this cake HERE for the inspiration I was able to put together a fun cake.  For the eyes on my cake I used Ritz crackers dipped in Orange Chocolate melts and added the candy eyeballs to the top. The mouth on my cake is just paper. Super easy and fun to make. This cake was a chocolate cake with Orange Cream Frosting.......yes it was super good!

Paper Sack Bunnies

I just had to share these adorable Paper Sack bunnies that my mother-in-law made my kids for Easter.  How cute are they?!  She filled them up with sidewalk chalk and treats and the kids loved them!
Thanks Nancy!

Spring Mantel: He is Risen Banner

My Mantel has been decorated for a few weeks now and I love it.
I am super happy with my new addition this year: My HE IS RISEN pennant banner.
I made it from paper pennants, sticker letters and some yarn.  It fits perfectly on my picket fence.
All of the other decorations are from years past.

Spring MOSS Wreath

I have fallen in love with the look of Moss this spring.
So I decided to make myself a Moss Wreath.

If you like the Easter Egg Felt Banner you can find ones like this one HERE in my etsy shop.

 Here is the back:
My hotty hubby helped me make some frames out of some wood, some wood glue and brackets.  I was able to make 2 large frames for $2.00 total.  BONUS!  I bought sheet moss with a 50% off coupon, some pink burlap for 50 cents and again using a coupon I added the cute nest as well.

Happy March! : St. Patrick's Day Mantel

I am so happy it's March....
spring is right around the corner!
Since Easter is also in March this year (dumb I think) I didn't want to put up a lot of green stuff since it will come down as fast as it went up.
I love my picket fence!!!  I use it all the time.  It was a great place to hang up my rainbow banner.
The banner: I took my 2" round paper punch and punched out circles from paper scraps and then taped those to some bakers twine.  That's it.
The Leprechaun Hat is from last year.  And of course with every rainbow there is some sunshine so I took my green sunshine frame that I hang in my hallway and put it here.  PERFECT!

HAPPY MARCH TO ALL OF YOU!!

Easy Last Minute Game ideas for Classroom Valentine's Party

I am in charge of the Valentine's Day classroom activities in my daughters kindergarten class.
Thanks to some ideas that I found on Pinterest, I was able to put together a couple of fun games and activities for the kids.

Pin the lips on the teacher:
found this idea HERE as well as the lip printable.
I decided to put the teacher's faces on a poster and then laminated it.
One side has a girl teacher,
the other side has a guy teacher.

Cupid's Arrow Practice:
 found this idea HERE.
I changed it up a bit by making a poster with three different sized heart cutouts that the kids can shoot the arrows (Q-tips) threw. You simply put a q-tip in a straw and have the kids blow on the end of the straw and the q-tip shoots out.

Color your Mustache/Lips: Class Photo Idea
with lips and mustaches being so popular right now I thought this would be fun for the kids.  I drew up lips and mustaches and copied them onto white card stock.  Each kid can color and cut out their shapes and tape them to a straw.  I plan to take a whole class picture with the students and the teacher in these.  It's also a fun take home project for them too.

Boy and Girl Classroom Valentines

My oldest is in Kindergarten.  I wanted something fun and simple for her to hand out to her classmates. And since I am the room mom and will be doing the class party....they needed to be simple.
How does $1.00 sound?!?  yep, thanks to some awesome free printables and a package of small erasers from Target, that is all these cost me.  I had the little baggies on hand already.
You can fin the Dino Printable HERE
(the blog has now since been removed)

Valentine's Day treat for your HUBBY

I put together a simple treat for my husband for Valentine's Day.
$1.00 container, lip clip from Target, bakers twine, this fun Sealed with a kiss printable from The Idea Room blog. I added a fun vinyl mustache to the lid to make this a little more man-ly for my guy, filled it with his favorite treat and it's ready to go!

Since the tag says sealed with a kiss, I added some cinnamon lips and the cute lip clip holds onto them in the front.  Perfect for my guy!

Mini Heart Pillows: So many uses

I made up a bunch of these mini heart pillows to use for Valentine's Day.
I plan to do several things with them:
*place them all over the house and have a scavenger hunt with the kids
*hide them in fun places for my husband to find...so he knows how much I love him
*send one to loved ones who live far away
*they make sweet little pillows for your kids dolls
*leave on the doorstep of a neighbor
I just simply drew a heart shape, traced it onto my fabric, sewed around it leaving a small opening to fill with batting then I used liquid stitch to close them up.  Fast and easy!  A great way to use up fabric scraps!
