Witches Weekend Party Ideas

Every Year in October......
all the witches on my husbands side gather for a Witches Wackiest Weekend.  They come from all different places and gather together for a weekend free of all warlocks, ghouls and goblins.(husbands and kids)
We enjoy horrifying moments, cackling confessions, screaming conversations and twisted tales.
We have different contests for wildest nails, spellbound accessories, eye popping socks and bewitching presentation of a treat.
And everyone wears funky eyelashes......even grandma!
Take a peek inside our party.......
Here are just a few of the fun ideas my husbands family came up with this year.
Witch Broom pens (raffia and electric tape)
Everyone is paired up with a cousin to take turns making meals.  My SIL and I were assigned a lunch.
So we did a Witch's Cafe type lunch.
I decorated water bottles with decorative packing tape and added the labels that I found HERE.
We planned a fun menu and printed out menus so everyone could have reading what they were going to be served for lunch.
Dessert was soooooo good that it was gone before I could get a picture of it.
My SIL made Carmel Crud with Axed Apples (apple nachos).
Sliced apples topped with melted Carmel, chocolate, marshmallow's, toffee and coconut.  DELISH!!
Witches Blood sauce and Mummy Brains (sweet and sour meatballs)
served on top maggots (brown rice)
Graveyard greens served with fresh flesh (yummo green salad)
PLUS little gummy crock roaches hidden inside the salad.
hehehehehe
Then everyone was asked to bring a treat to share with everyone.  Here are just a few of their fabulous ideas.  Really, I married into a incredibly talented family :)
Howling snack bags, chocolate covered pretzels, fudge, rye bread with melted cheese and green onions on top, and this rice krispie witch hat.....that won the door prize this year!

Aunt Pam host's this even every year at her house and she had this fabulous display of Huckleberry drinks and cackling treats!
For my treat I made Witch Fingers (nutter butters) and Mummy Eyeballs (oreos)
It was a great time.
We sleep over Friday night and then spend all day Saturday eating and doing a bunch of different crafts.
We made wooden pumpkins, Halloween lanterns, rings and necklaces, and also did a lot of different vinyl lettering on tiles.

Semi-Homemade Donuts

Fall time makes me think of Spice cake donuts.  Not sure why but it just does.
Well, I didn't have anything in my house to make those today but I
did have the stuff to make chocolate donuts :)
This is what I did to make our donuts:
Before leaving for church, I took frozen roll dough out of the freezer and put them into
muffin tins to thaw and rise. (spray the tins with Pam for easier removal)
This is what they looked like just 5 hours later!!
This was the best part.....my little one was able to "make the donuts" just by
taking a water bottle and making a whole for the middle. She thought she was some kind of cool inventor.

We cooked them up in our fry daddy, let them cool completly and then dipped them into melted chocolate chips and we let her add the sprinkles.
The best part about using frozen roll dough is that you only have to make a few at a time......that way you won't eat toooo many of them :)
Change it up: once they are out of the fryer, sprinkle them with sugar and cinnamon
Super fun, Super easy and Super Yummy!!!

Witch Fairy Costume

I wanted to share this Witch Fairy Costume with all of you
OK, so I have a little tear in my eye tonight.....my baby girl has grown up way to fast!!
okokok Back to the subject at hand :)
Please forgive the awful quality of pictures.
They were taken a couple of years ago....long before I ever thought I would do a blog knew about blogging.
I simply made a tutu with a small amount of black tulle and pretty purple and black-glittery fabric.  I did this so it would lay down instead of perk up :)  I knew she wouldn't like the itchy stuff by her hands or getting in her way.  Then I tied green ribbon on the tutu for additional color.
Throw on a $1.00 store witch hat and fairy wings, a black shirt and green pants, her Sunday shoes and there you have it!  An adorable witch fairy.......I really am ok....(boohoooo)

Carrot Cookies

I grew up eating these cookies.  They are good.
Takes me right back to my childhood and fall time too.
**Give them a try**
1 cup white sugar
1 cup shortening
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
3 cups flour
3 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 cup cooked carrots, mashed

bake 375* 10-12 minutes
( Diabetic exchange: 495 carbs in all.  Take the # of cookies you get and divide that
with 495 and you will know how many carbs per cookie.
12 carbs for large cookies, 6 for small cookies)

Halloween Advent

I finally finally got this done.....I was going to make one last year.....until my pregnancy went high risk and I was just to tired and sick to do it.  No excuses this year :)  So I sat down and did it in 2 days while I watched and listened to this last weekend. I love conference weekend!!

I hit up Michael's for non-treat fillers the other day...(.they had much better stuff then the dollar store did) Just find the $1.00 stuff and they had so many fun things like silly pudy, stickers, pencils, make it yourself skeleton necklace, glow sticks,  a windup eye ball and others.
They even had a ton of other bigger stuff (things that wouldn't fit into my pockets) but that was no problem.  I just took and index card, cut it in half and wrote the name of the bigger item on it.  I just keep the bigger stuff hidden in my room until they draw that item.  I also wrote down several things to do throughout the month, like making donuts, date night with mom, make cookies and going trick or treating.
Here it is, all filled up with fun little surprises!
Here is how I made it:
Black felt : 25" wide and about 50 inches long
the felt pockets: 4"x4"
I typed the numbers on my computer, printed it out in the size I wanted, flipped the page and traced the numbers onto the heat n bond.  Then ironed the heat n bond onto black fabric, cut out the numbers and ironed them onto the pockets.  Did the same thing for the Happy Halloween at the bottom.  Hung it with a rod and tulle and your done!!

Dutch Oven Potatoes

I LOVE to dutch oven!
With the birth of my 2 real babies, these babies dutch ovens have not been used as often as I used to use them.  So I wipped them out and made something yummy inside them. :)

First: warm up your seasoned dutch oven
Then cook onions, green pepper and garlic until soft.
Then add meat.  I used little smokies
Then comes 2 pkgs of Cubed Hashbrowns. (Shredded does not turn out as good)
Then pour 1 can of Sprite into the mix, stir (do not use diet...has to be the real stuff)
Season with salt and pepper
Then it's time to put the lid on, add some heat to the top and let it do it's thing for about 30minutes.
In the meantime, scramble some eggs in another dutch oven
Ohhhhh, what could be better then this when you lift up the lid?!?!
CHEESE!!
spirinkle some cheese on top and replace the lid for 5 minutes and you
will find this beauty when it's done!
Enjoy!!
