Toddler Leash Handle

Oh my, I saw THIS POST over at Make it and Love it just this morning and I literally ran to my sewing machine to make up some.

I leave for a trip soon and I just knew I needed some of these babies.

ONE for my purse

ONE for my stroller

ONE for my husbands belt loop.....he doesn't know this yet :)

Bathroom Towel CAR ORGANIZER

Take bath towels and turn them into a car organizer!!

I found a set of bath towels and a set of hand towels

at Target for $5 total! 

(Can't beat $5.00 for 2 car organizers)

You will need to measure the seats in your own car before getting started so you know were you need to put your pockets.  I have large seats, therefore I did not have to cut my towels.

Lay out your bath towel.  Fold up the bottom for a large pocket.

I then took the hand towel, folded it in half and layed that on the bath towel were I wanted the pocket to be.

I did this, instead of cutting the hand towel, to make it a double pocket for extra storage.

Pin everything in place.  I then took ribbon I had and pined that to the towels were I wanted to make the seperate compartments. Now sew down the sides and the bottom of the towels and then the ribbon and it is all done!

Now, depending on how your seat works, you will have to make a couple of holes in the top of your towel so the head rest can be put through the towel to hold it in place. 

Be aware... that if you have seatbelts on your seat like I do you will need to make a few extra adjustments :)

It really made it simple using towels.  I also love the idea they are very washable as well. 

These are perfect to help keep the upcoming summer busy -ness better organized and help keep my car clean!!

Portable craft station for the kids

I am the first one to admit how glad I am to see the HOT summer days go. We all know that with fall comes some unpredictable weather. So why not make a portable craft station that can easily be taken outside on those few good days but can easily be brought back in when the weather changes. For example, our high today is 89* and our high for Wed will be 58*.......I love fall weather!!

I took something I had but no longer used for it's previous use and turned it back into something usable.

If you don't have a designated craft area for the kids (like myself) this works great since it's portable. I had long since out grown my scrap booking case for myself so instead of giving it away (because those things are not cheap) I turned it into my kids craft station. They can come and go in it as they need and everything is right there for them. Hey they can even do all the work in getting the stuff :)

I filled it with everything.....but the kitchen sink of course! Stickers, scissors, scrap paper, play dough, coloring books, pipe cleaner, pom poms, paper towel rolls and so much more. I love having their mess contained just a bit and they know where to put everything when they are done. So go pull out that case that you are no longer using and turn it into something fun!


other uses for this case could be: 72 hour car kit, camera station for the busy photographer, place to hold stamps, teacher's bag to transport homework to and from school and more!

Easy File Folder Games and more...

I LOVE the teacher supply store!! There are sooooo many possibilities there for so many different things. And you don't have to be a teacher to make the things usable for you or your kids. I found these 2 posters and turned them into several things, including file folder games for my kids. Super cute and very inexpensive.

I also found a very old calendar that I had laying around my house from several years ago (don't ask me why I had saved it in the first place but for this it was great??) and I turned that into a file folder game as well.

Here they are: 4 different games. Laminated and ready for use.

With the left over objects from the posters I made a game for the kids. They can close their eyes, reach into the bag and draw a color, then they have 15 seconds to run and find something in that color. (this can be played in the house, or out in the yard or this would even work in the car) This teaches them so many good things about colors and objects and it's fun too.





For the other left over pieces of the other poster I cut out the words and laminated them. I LOVE this Poster Putty!!! Works great when you can't put up permanent things on your walls. I also used this putty to decorate my kids bathroom!

And in my daughters room, I have made a learning station for her. This alphabet poster was also a great find at the teacher supply store!! How fun is that!!

So 2 posters, costing $3 made 4 file folder games, 1 game and a learning station. Not bad if I say so myself. I'll be visiting the teacher supply store more often for ideas and projects!!

Easy Counting Game

Need a different counting game that your child could assemble themselves or just something to keep them busy? Here is a very easy and simple counting game that is also a great coordination tool as well.

What you need: 11 index cards, 55 paper clips and something to write with.

(take note that this game is best suitable for the child who would not put paper clips in their months)

How to make: Write the numbers 0 - 10 on your index cards. Then paper clip the same number of paper clips to the card.

Summer Time Kid Car Kit

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! I know I did!

We took a road trip to see family over the weekend and thanks to that I was able to get motivated to put these car kits together before we left.......to make the drive a little more enjoyable for the kids.

I found these great fold-able containers in a 2 pack at Target, used some VERY old pillowcases (thanks mom!) to make a liner and filled them with a TON of different things.

I made a liner so I can take it out and wash it and also to use as a cover to hide the stuff when I leave it in the back seat of my car.

Here are the 2 kits....one for my car and one for daddy's car:

And here is what I put inside:

coloring book, coloring pencils, clipboard, books, ABC flashcards, mirror, tissue and wipes, stuffed animals, magnet games, pinwheel (works great when the windows are down!), snacks that won't melt (pretzels, crackers, water), notebook, tic tack toe game, sunglasses, lacing toys

The possibilities are endless and I am always adding new things, also I put different things in each kit so they have something new and different depending on which car we are in. Just remember to put things in your kits that will not melt, now that summer is on its way!

And it Worked LOVELY!!!
