Repurpose Cream Soda Bottles into a fun Valentines gift

Sometimes coming up with a fun and creative gift for the hubby can be hard....
So I hit the grocery store because the way to a guys heart is through is stomach RIGHT?!

I took a case of Cream Soda bottles and without making it to "girly" I
decorated it for the hubby for a fun gift that I am sure he will love to snack on!
This is going to be fun to give to him while he is at work for all to see....and hopefully tease :)

Here is the before:
*Cream Soda bottles are clear, so pick those if you want him to see the snacks inside,
if not you can use Root Beer Bottles.
*Empty, wash and dry the bottles well, make sure to keep the bottle caps
*I spray painted the inside of the cardboard case just to hide the yellow, once dry you can decorate it with paper.  I used spray adhesive because it drys faster and works well with paper.
*Then decorate the bottles with paper and ribbon.  I added little tags with a funny saying on each bottle and (because my hubby is a type 1 diabetic) I filled the bottles with his favorite snacks and put the carb amount for each snack on the back side of the tag to make it easier for him as he snacks.

And the After:
What good man wouldn't love this!?
I know mine will!!

Baby Shower gift idea using bean bags

Here are a couple of gifts I put together for a baby shower I have coming up.  It's a double baby shower for 2 of my friends, one is having a boy the other a girl.

I made bean bags for each of them and included these great bean bag games to go with them.  Sometimes it is a nice surprise to get something other then clothes and diapers.

Valentine's Day Ideas #2 - 9 ideas for home decor and more

Here is the next set of Valentine's Ideas. I sure love this holiday, and here are a few reasons why...

wooden heart chain

(Take wooden hearts, paint them, drill holes and tie them together)

 FELT Valentine's cards

(I cut hearts in different shapes out of scraps of felt, stamped some smaller hearts on paper and I adhered them to cardstock for some simple and fun cards for a fun touch)

Framed Owly Love

(I cut out an owl using this template and framed it)

Valentine's Wreath

(I bought a foam wreath from the dollar store, wrapped it with some red garland I found in the Christmas clearance for 10 cents, added some wire heart garland and then cut out a heart from paper to hang in the middle and hung it up with a piece if ribbon)

Fabric Heart Applique for a shirt

(cut out a heart from fabric, then stitch around the heart leaving enough room to snip the edges so it will fray in the wash, then cut out a smaller heart for the middle and iron it on with heat n bond)

Fabric Heart Wreath

(I made this last year using this tutorial)

Little Frames full of Love

(I found these adorable frames in the $1 bins at Michaels, punched out a paper heart, I then cut out the plastic glass then added the heart with dimentionals....they come with a stand too!)

You've Got Mail

(I have seen these little mailboxes at Target, Michaels and I am sure other places.  I found mine at the DI-thrift store last year and decorated it with paint, paper, ribbon and rub-ons)

Heart "Felt" Garland - my favorite

(I bought $0.98 worth of felt.  Cut circles, then hearts with my pinking shears.  I cut enough hearts that I put a heart on the back side as well so if I were to hang it up in a doorway it was finished on both sides.  I cut 2 small slits at the top of the cirlce to then thread some glitter twine through each one to hang them up.  I used spray adhesive to attach the hearts)

He gave me roses.....LOVED them but oh man he beat me so I made him wait all day for his gift :)

A Homemade dinner :
(this is what we did since we had a newborn and couldn't find a babysitter so we just put the baby to bed and
had a late night dinner just for 2....just an idea :)
Menu :  Ribeye steak, veggie and roasted garlic potatoes
gotta love the correl dinnerware!...I promise to do better!

For dessert :
Raspberry Sherbet Slush, Double Layer Raspberry Filled chocolate cake
(I was so proud of myself for making the cake...super easy and even more yummy)

The gift :
a basket filled with all of his favorite goodies (besides me of course) and a list of 101 things I love about you!
He loved the list....some were funny and some were serious but I think I had even more fun coming up with the reasons.

Easy DIY update on your bedroom curtains

BEFORE:

AFTER:
All I did was take my boring brown cutains and sewed a strip of fabric to the top.  It really helped to update the look I was going for and it was easy and cheap to do since I already had the fabric in my stash that I bought a while back for a different project and never used it.  I now know what I'll be doing to my kitchen curtains so stay tuned for that!

**I did not cut my curtains!  I was to shy and lazy, didn't want them turning out slanted after all that hard work so I just made 2 strips 5" wide and measured 6" from the top (loops not included) and sewed them on.  This was a much faster and easier way to dress them up.

Full Year Card Organizer

It's time to refill my card organizer so I decided to share what works for me.  I have used this for several years now......I think it's time I make a cute fabric cover to make it pretty.......but until then this is what I use.

What you need: 3 ring binder, several pencil pockets with a zipper (found in the school supplies), a monthly template to write down dates of birthdays, stamps and and address list, clear page protectors and of course cards!

I simply put ready made cards in each pocket, fill out all the birthdays or other dates that I have to keep track of throughout the year, buy stamps and update my address list and put it all in the binder and I am all set for the year.  I make a few extra blank cards and put them in the front pocket for all those other extra times I need a card.  I believe in keeping oraganization simple and practical and of course usable.  Have fun!

**Since I did this a few years ago I couldn't find the same template I am using but here is another one that can work.
